Tarique Rahman to visit martyr Abu Sayeed's grave Monday

RANGPUR, Jan 8, 2026 (BSS) - BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman is due to visit martyr Abu Sayeed's grave at his native village Babanpur in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur at 2 pm on Monday next. 

BNP's organizing secretary (Rangpur Division) principal Asadul Habib Dulu confirmed the matter to local journalists in Rangpur city on Wednesday afternoon. 

Earlier, Tarique Rahman's tour director (coordination) Captain (retd) Ganiul Azam also confirmed the matter. 

In the four-day programme, Tarique Rahman will travel from Dhaka by road via Tangail and Sirajganj to Bogura on January 11 and spend the night there.

The next day on January 12, he will go to Dinajpur from Bogura via Pirganj in Rangpur. From there, he will go to Thakurgaon and spend the night there. 

From Thakurgaon, he will visit Panchagarh, Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat on January 13. From there, he will return and spend the night in Rangpur. 

The next day, on January 14, Tarique Rahman will return to Dhaka from Rangpur via Bogura. 

During this visit, he will visit the graves of veteran politician Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, martyr Abu Sayeed, Taiba Majumder and July Uprising martyrs, and participate in several prayer mehfils. 

In addition, he will pay a courtesy call on the injured July fighters and martyred families during the visit. 
    
Meanwhile, BNP arranged a divisional-level preparatory meeting at the Rangpur Chamber Board Room with BNP organizing secretary (Rangpur division) principal Asadul Habib Dulu in the chair on Wednesday afternoon. 

BNP-nominated MP candidates for the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections from all 33 constituencies of Rangpur division attended the meeting to make Tarique Rahman's four-day visit to Rangpur division a success. 

Principal Asadul Habib Dulu in the meeting instructed the participating BNP leaders and MP candidates to celebrate Tarique Rahman's visit historically. 
Dulu said, "We are eagerly looking forward to welcoming our beloved leader." 

Dulu told reporters that BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman is not coming on any political tour to different districts in the Rangpur division.

Rangpur District BNP convener and MP candidate for Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) Md Saiful Islam said that the party's acting chairman Tarique Rahman is coming to visit the grave of July Uprising martyr Abu Sayeed in Pirganj of Rangpur on Monday. 

"All kinds of preparations are underway to welcome Tarique Rahman. However, no big arrangements or gatherings are being held so that the election code of conduct is not violated," he said. 

Rangpur Metropolitan BNP convener and MP candidate for Rangpur-3 constituency Md Shamsuzzaman Samu said that all kinds of preparations are underway to welcome the party's acting chairman Tarique Rahman. 

Meanwhile, local leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organisations have become excited about the news of Tarique Rahman's visit to different districts of Rangpur division in the northern region.
