
DHAKA, Jan 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Fire Service and Civil Defence today conducted a fire drill at Setu Bhaban to enhance preparedness and ensure effective emergency response.
All concerned were requested to strictly follow prescribed instructions to ensure the smooth conduct of the drill, according to a Facebook post of the Bangladesh Fire Bridge Authority.
Ahead of the exercise, Banani Police Station and traffic police were informed to prevent traffic congestion around the building. Necessary banners related to the drill were also displayed at appropriate locations.
The drill began at 10:00 am with the fire alarm sounding for one minute. Immediately after the alarm, officials, employees, visitors and other occupants evacuated the building and assembled at the designated area on the ground floor.
During the evacuation, everyone was instructed to use stairways only, while electricity supply and elevator services were kept completely shut down throughout the drill.
As part of the exercise, two victims were rescued from the rooftop and brought down safely.
Two others were given necessary first aid on the ground floor. Water was sprayed on the rooftop, and two additional victims were rescued using ladders. An artificially created fire on the ground floor was also extinguished during the drill.
Following the exercise, Fire Service personnel conducted a briefing. After the completion of the drill, all participants returned to their respective workplaces.
The authorities expressed sincere thanks to all concerned for their cooperation in ensuring the successful completion of the fire drill.
