Nine held under Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2

DHAKA, Jan 9, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested nine individuals in the last 
24 hours as part of Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2, following raids in several 
crime-prone areas of the capital.

According to a press release of police, the arrests were made on Thursday. 

Among those detained is Md. Alamgir Khan (52), identified as the vice-
president of the banned organization Awami Swechchhasebak League.

The other arrestees are Md. Abdullah (35), Md. Sinan Sayefi (23), Md. Parvez 
Mosharraf (22), Md. Shahin (30), Md. Rubel (30), Md. A. Razzak Mia (51), 
Jamal Hossain (42), and Md. Al Amin (26).

Police said Alamgir Khan and Md. Abdullah have been sent to the court, while 
the remaining seven were produced before the Special Magistrate Court in 
Mirpur under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance Act for their alleged 
involvement in various crimes.

Rupnagar Police Station officials stated that the operation will continue as 
part of ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities and maintain law and 
order in the capital.
