Anti-drug volleyball tournament concludes in Bagerhat, Burigangni clinch title

BAGERHAT, Jan 7, 2026 (BSS) - An anti-drug volleyball tournament aimed at promoting a drug-free society concluded here in the district today, with the Burigangni team emerging as champions.

The final match and prize distribution ceremony were held at 10:00 am at the Sundarghona Kathaltola ground in Bagerhat Sadar upazila. The event was organized jointly by the Bagerhat District Administration and the Bagerhat Narcotics Control Department.

Deputy Director of the District Narcotics Control Department Md. Mizanur Rahman presided over the programme. Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner Golam Md. Baten and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury attended the event as special guests, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Golam Md. Baten said that drugs destroy not only individuals but also families and society at large. 

He stressed that sports play an important role in keeping the youth physically and mentally healthy and can be an effective means of building a drug-free society.

In the final match, Burigangni defeated Terkhada to claim the championship title, while Terkhada finished as runners-up. 

The guests later distributed trophies and prizes among the winning and runner-up teams.
