Election journalism training concludes in Sylhet

SYLHET, Jan 4, 2026 (BSS) - A two-day election journalism training organised by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) concluded in Sylhet today.

Fifty journalists from print and electronic media in Sylhet participated in the training. 

The closing ceremony was attended by Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Md Sarwar Alam as chief guest.

Deputy Commissioner emphasised the importance of knowledge and learning, noting that election reporting plays a crucial role in ensuring a free and fair poll. 

He also urged journalists to raise public awareness about the upcoming referendum through accurate reporting.

The ceremony was presided over by Sylhet Press Club President Muktabis-un-Noor and coordinated by PIB senior trainer Md Shah Alam. 

Sultan Mahmud, Deputy Editor of Amar Desh and Khaled Ahmad, General Secretary of Sylhet Metropolitan Journalists' Union were present as special guests, among others, on the occasion.
