GAIBANDHA, Jan 5, 2026 (BSS) - Police Nari Kalyan Samity (PUNAK) today distributed warm clothes among more than 300 cold-affected people living in char areas of Kanchipara Union under Fulchhari Upazila in the district.

A warm clothes distribution programme was held at Rasulpur Char of the union on Sunday afternoon.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Jashim Uddin attended the programme as the chief guest, while District PUNAK Chairperson Ishrat Jahan Bithi presided over it.

Speaking on the occasion, SP Md Jashim Uddin said PUNAK had taken the initiative to distribute warm clothes among cold-affected poor and distressed people of remote areas, including char regions, to help mitigate their sufferings caused by the severe cold wave and dense fog.

As part of its social responsibility, warm clothes were distributed among the people of the union accordingly, he added.

District PUNAK Chairperson Ishrat Jahan Bithi said the warm clothes distribution activities were being carried out on humanitarian grounds and would continue in future for the poor and needy people.

Earlier, the organisation distributed warm clothes among 150 cold-hit poor people of Ramchandrapur Union under Sadar Upazila in the district on Saturday afternoon.
