
BHOLA, Jan 7, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested three people in connection with the murder of an autorickshaw driver in Lalmohan upazila of the district, bringing a breakthrough in the widely discussed case.
The arrested are Md Ibrahim, 36, identified as the mastermind of the murder, along with his associates Md Raja, 32, and Kazi Tarek, 35.
According to police, Ibrahim is a resident of Ward No-2 of Char Kamli union under Shashibhushan Police Station in Charfashion upazila. Kazi Tarek is also from the same police station area, while Raja hails from Deula Union of Borhanuddin upazila.
Superintendent of Police Md Shahidullah Kawsar disclosed the information at a press conference held at the District Superintendent of Police office on Wednesday afternoon.
He said that on the night of December 30, at around 8:30 pm, seven assailants boarded an auto-rickshaw driven by Md Abu Bakr Siddique from the Charfashion bus stand, pretending to travel to Borhanuddin.
At about 9:30 pm, when the auto-rickshaw reached the Kachuakhali area of West Char Umed union in Lalmohan upazila, the assailants stabbed Abu Bakr Siddique on the right side of his chest with a sharp knife, threw him off the vehicle, and fled with the auto-rickshaw.
Following the incident, the victim’s son, Sultan, filed a murder case with Lalmohan Police Station on January 1.
SP Kawsar said the main accused Ibrahim was arrested on Tuesday with the help of information technology. During interrogation, Ibrahim confessed to his involvement in the murder. Based on his statement, police later arrested Md Raja and Kazi Tarek.
Police have also recovered the knife used in the murder, the superintendent said, adding that efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused and recover the stolen autorickshaw.
He said that multiple cases have previously been filed in Dhaka against Ibrahim and Raja.
