KISHOREGANJ, Jan 14, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Army distributed winter
clothes among helpless and cold-stricken people in the district today as part
of its humanitarian assistance activities.

Under the initiative of the 19th Infantry Division, blankets were distributed
among 200 poor and distressed people at Chandpur Hajibari Government Primary
School premises in Katiadi upazila around 10:00 am.

The winter clothes distribution programme was inaugurated by Major Niaz
Makhdum, deputy commander of the 23 Field Regiment Artillery of the 19th
Artillery Brigade Group under the 19th Infantry Division.

Pakundia Army Camp Commander Captain Rahemin Mahmud, Warrant Officer Asir
Uddin and other members of the Bangladesh Army were present on the occasion.

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude after receiving the blankets.
Rokeya Begum, one of the recipients, said the assistance would greatly help
them cope with the severe cold. "We are poor people and suffer a lot during
the winter. The blankets given by the army have brought us much relief," she
said, offering prayers for the army personnel.

Another beneficiary, daily wage earner Abdul Malek, said the winter season
makes it difficult to go out for work. "This blanket will give some comfort
to my family. We are thankful to the Bangladesh Army," he added.

Local residents said such humanitarian initiatives taken by the army are
playing a significant role in easing the sufferings of cold-affected poor
people in the area.
