Two killed in Tangail road accident

TANGAIL, Jan 17, 2026 (BSS) - Two people were killed and two others injured in a road accident at Basail upazila here this evening.

The accident occurred on the Batkura-Nalua road in front of Basail Emdad Hamida Degree College.

The deceased were identified as Milon (24), son of Mintu Mia of Gosaijoir village in Tangail Sadar upazila and Arfan Khan (75), son of late Moksed Khan of the Chakpara area under Basail municipality.

According to police and local sources, three people were travelling on a motorcycle after returning from the Faila Paglar Fair in Shakhipur upazila. The motorcycle reportedly lost control in front of the college and hit a pedestrian, killing both the motorcyclist and the pedestrian on the spot.

Two other motorcycle riders were injured in the incident and were rushed to Tangail General Hospital for treatment.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Basail Police Station Humayun Kabir confirmed the incident, saying the accident resulted in the deaths of a pedestrian and a motorcyclist. The bodies of the deceased were later handed over to their respective families.
