Press council holds journalist workshop in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Jan 25, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Press Council organized a day-long workshop for journalists on upcoming 13th National Parliament elections in the district today.  

The workshop titled "Prevention of Misjournalism and Providing Objective News" was held at the district Circuit House Auditorium at 10:00 am. Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice AKM Abdul Hakim inaugurated the event.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Nariuzzaman presided over the inaugural session, while Police Superintendent Sheikh Zahidul Islam attended as a special guest. District Information Officer Md. Bayezid Hossain delivered the welcome address.

During the workshop, Bangladesh Press Council Secretary (Deputy Secretary) Md. Abdus Sabur, serving as the resource person, presented a detailed discussion on the importance of adhering to the code of conduct and ensuring objective journalism during the national elections.

In his address, Press Council Chairman Justice AKM Abdul Hakim laid on responsible journalism and outlined the roles and responsibilities of media professionals in ensuring fair and accurate election coverage. 

At the concluding function of the workshop, certificates were distributed among the participants. According to the organizers, 40 journalists from various print and electronic media outlets in the district took part in the training.
