As part of the government's commitment to stand by the families of those who lost their lives in the anti-fascist movement, Jhalakathi Deputy Commissioner Md Momin Uddin handed over the cheques at his office this afternoon.

Each of the five families received savings certificates worth Tk 20 lakh. Earlier, in the first phase of assistance, savings certificates worth Tk 10 lakh each were distributed among the families of 10 martyrs in Jhalakathi district. With today's distribution in the second phase, five more families have received Tk 20 lakh each.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Md Momin Uddin said the sacrifices of the martyrs of the July Uprising must never be forgotten. He noted that their sacrifices would play a significant role in establishing democracy, voting rights, and fundamental rights in the country.

He added that the government would always stand beside the martyrs' families and assured that the district administration would make every effort to ensure they are not neglected. The government's support for their welfare, he said, would continue in the future.

The martyrs were killed in different areas of Dhaka city while participating in the anti-fascist movement during the July Uprising of 2024.
