USEP held meeting on technical skill development in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Feb 3, 2026 (BSS) - Emphasizing the need to transform disadvantaged youth into skilled industrial workers to boost productivity and ensure sustainable economic growth, a day-long exchange meeting was held here today.

Titled "Transforming Disadvantaged Youth into Industrial Workers to Increase Industrial Productivity," the meeting was organized at the USEP Rajshahi Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institute.

Director General of the Department of Labour under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Fahimida Akter, attended the event as chief guest. She visited training facilities, interacted with trainees and expressed satisfaction over the quality of training, modern equipment and market-driven courses.

Speaking on the occasion, she said skilled human resource development is essential for national economic progress and stressed greater participation of women in technical education, including computer and driving training.

USEP Bangladesh Regional Manager Md. Shahinul Islam said the project aims to prepare underprivileged youth as employment-ready industrial workers in line with industry demand, adding that public-private collaboration could further reduce unemployment.

Trainers, trainees and officials also spoke, highlighting the need for industry-linked training, internships and job placement to strengthen the industrial sector and the national economy.
