RAJSHAHI, Feb 15, 2026 (BSS) - Following the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election, leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami have maintained a peaceful atmosphere in Rajshahi.

Of the district's six constituencies, BNP won four while Jamaat secured two. No untoward incidents were reported in any constituency after the announcement of the results.

Winning and defeated candidates met one another and expressed their commitment to working jointly for the development of the region.

On Saturday, leaders of Rajshahi Metropolitan Jamaat greeted newly elected BNP Member of Parliament (MP) from the Sadar constituency Mizanur Rahman Minu with flowers and exchanged views with him. Among those present were City Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Advocate Abu Mohammad Selim, Metropolitan Secretary Emaz Uddin Mondol, Organizational Secretary Jasim Uddin and other leaders.

In Rajshahi-3 constituency, both the victorious and defeated candidates exchanged greetings after the contest. Jamaat candidate Professor Abul Kalam Azad congratulated BNP-nominated winner Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon at his residence in Adaria Para of Harggram Union. The two leaders shared sweets and held a brief discussion in a cordial atmosphere.

Such conduct after the election is being viewed as a message of political harmony in the constituency. Local residents expressed hope that mutual respect and cooperation would contribute to sustainable development.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Abul Kalam Azad said elections naturally produce winners and losers, adding that he would extend full cooperation for the development of Rajshahi-3.

Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon said "Elections are a festival of democracy and, despite differences of opinion, we all share the same goal of serving the people."

Meanwhile, Abu Sayeed Chand, convener of the district BNP, was elected member of parliament for the first time from Rajshahi-6 (Charghat-Bagha). Celebrations were held at his residence the morning after the election.

Along with BNP leaders and supporters, his nearest rival Jamaat candidate Principal Nazmul Haque congratulated him with flowers and sweets. The gesture was widely noted.

Chand said "I want to work with people from all walks of life, regardless of political affiliation, to develop the constituency."

Leaders of civil society described the development as a positive sign in the political arena.
