Two held with fake currency worth Tk 70,000 in Khulna

KHULNA, April 3, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested two individuals along with counterfeit currency worth Taka 70,000 in Khulna city on Thursday afternoon.

The arrested were identified as Md. Mukul Hossain, 27, son of Wahid Molla of Ramnagar village under Satkhira Sadar and Md. Shimul Morol, 30, son of the late Abdul Malek Morol of Baikari village.

The drive was conducted by Harintana Police Station at a residential hotel named "City Home" near Zero Point intersection.

Police said, acting on a tip-off, a team of the concerned police station conducted a drive on a room on the third floor of the hotel and apprehended 
the duo. 

During the drive, law enforcers recovered 70 pieces of counterfeit notes of Taka 1,000 denomination, totaling Takak 70,000.

A case has been filed against the accused under the Special Powers Act with Harintana Police Station, the sources added.
