Fugitive accused in Panchagarh's gang rape case arrested

RANGPUR, April 3, 2026 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a fugitive accused in the gang rape case of a Panchagarh girl from Patharghata village under Tentulia police station of Panchagarh district today.
 
The arrestee is Md Laden, 22, son of Md Abdur Razzaque of village Amtola, under Sadar police station of Panchagarh, a press release signed by RAB-13’s Senior Assistant Director (Media) and Additional Superintendent of Police Biplab Kumar Goswami said.

Citing the statement of the complainant, the release said that the victim and the prime accused in the case Md Ashikuzzaman Ashiq, 21, of the same area had a previous acquaintance and their friendship turned into a quarrel. 
 
Later, accused Md Ashikuzzaman Ashiq introduced the victim to the other three accused in the case by promising to meet them. 
 
Later accused Md Ashikuzzaman Ashiq and his accomplices took the victim to a bamboo cum eucalyptus garden, where he and his two other accomplices forcibly gang-raped her at 8 pm on September 14, 2025.
 
At that time, the arrested accused Md Laden with the other accused attempted to rape the victim again. 
 
Later, the victim filed a gang-rape case with Panchagarh Sadar police station on March 15, 2026. 
 
On a tip off, an operational team of RAB-13’s Crime Prevention Company (CPC)-2 from Nilphamari Camp conducted a raid in Patharghata village of Panchagarh district and arrested accused Md Laden at 2 am on Friday.

The arrested accused has been handed over to Sadar police station in Panchagarh for further legal action, the release added.
