Woman killed in bus accident in Khulna

KHULNA, Apr 3, 2026 (BSS) - A woman was killed and her husband seriously injured after a bus hit their motorcycle in Rupsha Upazila of Khulna on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Lili Kundu, 49, a resident of Gorombha village under Batiaghata Upazila. The couple had been living behind the UNO office in Rampal Upazila.

The accident occurred around 12:30 pm in the Amdabad area under NaihatI union when the couple was returning home on a motorcycle after visiting a doctor at Bangladesh Eye Hospital.

According to police and local sources, a local bus coming from behind hit the motorcycle, throwing Lili Kundu onto the road. She sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot.

Her husband, Amar Kundu, was critically injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital by locals.

Officer-in-Charge of Rupsha Police Station, Abdur Razzaq Mir, confirmed the incident, adding that the bus and its driver have been detained and legal actions are underway.
