FENI, March 13, 2026 (BSS) - As the holy Eid-ul-Fitr draws near, Feni city has transformed into a vibrant hub of commercial activity, with markets and shopping malls witnessing a massive influx of shoppers.

From the early hours of the morning until well past midnight, the city's commercial centers are teeming with people from all walks of life. Whether visiting high-end brand showrooms or street-side stalls, residents are out in full force to complete their festive purchases, creating a palpable sense of excitement throughout the district.

The city has been adorned with colourful illuminations, casting a festive glow over the major shopping districts. The surge of shoppers is particularly concentrated in the city's established commercial hubs and modern complexes.

Key shopping destinations currently seeing heavy footfall include Garden City, Shahid Hossain Uddin Bipani Bitan, Grand Huq Tower, Jumma Shopping Center, Tamijia Shopping Complex, and Feni Center.

Local merchants have shared mixed but generally positive feedback regarding the season's performance. While footfall is high, traders are observing the direct impact of the current economic climate on consumer behavior.

The markets are well-stocked with a wide array of fashion and religious items. In Garden City, a clear demographic split is visible by floor: the second and third floors are dominated by women seeking saris, three-pieces, gowns, and lehengas, while the fourth floor is the primary congregation point for male shoppers and youth fashion.

Ashik, a salesperson at Maowa Hijab, noted the high demand for accessories, stating that many female customers are specifically searching for hijabs that perfectly match the colors and styles of their new saris.

The shopping craze is most evident on Shahid Shahidullah Kaiser Road, where a long list of prestigious brand showrooms-including Aarong, Sara, Twelve, Top Ten, Easy, Rong, Tex Point, Umbrella, Infinity, Follow Fashion, B21, Lubnan, Shailo, Best Collection, Nannu Boutique, Gentle Park, Art, Monohari, Sailor, Vargo, and Rise-are operating at full capacity.

Other nearby centers such as Asia Bazar, F. Rahman AC Market, Home Plus, Green Tower, Aziz Shopping Center, and the Cooperative Super Market are also seeing significant crowds attracted by dazzling light displays.

For religious essentials, footpaths and shops near local mosques are doing brisk business selling Atar (perfume), prayer caps, and Jainamaz (prayer mats).

Shopper Md. Gias Uddin summarized the community spirit, noting that the joy of the occasion is reflected in seeing everyone out together, celebrating through their preparations for the festival.

Enamul Huq, Director of Grand Huq Tower, emphasized that the market has evolved to meet modern standards while maintaining its traditional roots.

To ensure a seamless shopping experience, the tower provides ample free parking and maintains a comprehensive CCTV camera network to ensure the security of both buyers and sellers, reporting no major disruptions so far this season.

The Eid spirit is inclusive of all economic segments. Temporary stalls set up along the banks of Rajajir Dighi have become a vital resource for low-income families. These vendors offer an extensive variety of affordable goods, ranging from footwear to all types of clothing, ensuring that festive attire is accessible to the entire community.

The local administration has deployed significant resources to maintain order and safety.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Shafiqul Islam confirmed that special policing measures are in effect across the city.

Police personnel are working 24/7 to manage heavy crowds, control traffic congestion on busy thoroughfares, and provide a secure environment for the thousands of citizens participating in the year's busiest shopping period.
