NOAKHALI, March 13, 2026 (BSS) - Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Adviser to
the BNP Chairperson, President of the Supreme Court Bar Council, and Member
of Parliament (MP), today stated that democracy cannot be established while
leaving millions of people in poverty.

"The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has prioritized the fulfillment of
the public's basic needs as a core component of its election promises," he
said while distributing Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) rice to the destitute
in Noakhali district.

The BNP leader handed over 10 kilograms (Kgs) bags of VGF rice to the ultra-
poor across Sonaimuri and Chatkhil upazilas of the district.

In his speech, Barrister Khokon said the party's current relief efforts are a
direct reflection of this commitment to the fundamental rights of the
citizenry.

He highlighted the need for transparency in relief management, insisting that
government-allocated resources, including rice and dates, must reach actual
orphans and those truly in need rather than being distributed in a merely
symbolic or superficial manner.

The distribution programme was attended by Sonaimuri Upazila Nirbahi Officer
(UNO) Nasrin Akhtar, Bajra Union BNP Convener Omar Faruk, and Sonaimuri
Upazila Jubo Dal Joint Convener Nasir Uddin Nasir.

Local union parishad members and other regional political leaders were also
present at the event to assist in the distribution process to the local
destitute population.
