DHAKA, June 5, 2026 (BSS) - Jatrabari Police Station of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested a fugitive life-term convict from the Matuail Madrasa Bazar area of the capital.

The convict, identified as Md. Shamim, was arrested at around 8:30 pm today following a raid conducted on intelligence, according to a DMP press release.

The release said Md. Shamim had been absconding for a long time to evade arrest after being sentenced to life imprisonment.

A dedicated team from Jatrabari Police Station carried out the operation and detained him.

Legal procedures against the arrested convict are currently underway, the release added.
