LALMONIRHAT, Mar 13, 2026 (BSS) - Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu today said the government wants to illuminate the district through various development activities.
"The government has undertaken various development programmes based on the manifesto presented to the people ahead of the election. The people extended overwhelming support to the BNP, placing their trust in that manifesto. We discussed the implementation of development activities on a priority basis in line with the manifesto," he said while talking to newsmen after a views-exchange with upazila-level officials and union parishad chairmen at the Sadar Upazila Parishad in the district this afternoon.
The minister further said that discussions were also held with the concerned officials on implementing various agriculture- and public welfare-oriented programmes, including canal excavation, family cards, farmer cards, and agricultural loans.
"The implementation of these programmes is expected to accelerate the overall development of the district. The government is giving importance to preventing social crimes. In particular, officials were urged to play an effective role in curbing crimes such as drug abuse, casinos, child marriage, and dowry," Asadul Habib Dulu said.
He added that a 180-day action plan has been prepared for upazila- and district-level officials. This meeting was held as part of reviewing the progress of the action plan. Its implementation and progress will continue to be monitored regularly in the future.
