CHANDPUR, March 13, 2026 (BSS) - Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon has issued strict instructions that students must not be made to stand on roads to greet ministers or other guests. 

"In future, no teacher or educational institution will be allowed to arrange receptions by making students stand under the sun or by the roadside," he said while delivering the keynote speech at a prize-giving ceremony in Kachua upazila, Chandpur, on the occasion of National Education Week. 

On his way to the event, he observed students standing by the roadside to welcome him and immediately expressed his displeasure.

"I have to move around like any ordinary citizen. No student should be made to stand on the road for me. Wherever I go, it will not be acceptable to see any teacher or student standing on the road. There is no need to arrange any reception or greeting that causes discomfort to students," he added.

Addressing teachers, he instructed them to dismiss students promptly and send them home. 

Speaking to the students, he said, "You will no longer have to stand on the road under the sun. There is no need for you to come out to greet me. I will visit schools myself to meet you."

Kachua upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Mahmudul Hasan Russel, Officer-in-Charge of Kachua Police Station Borhan Uddin, upazila BNP president Khairul Abedin Swapan, along with officials from various departments, teachers, and local political leaders, were present at the event.
