Over 210,000 children to receive measles vaccine in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, April 18, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 210,269 children in Nilphamari district are set to receive measles vaccines during a campaign scheduled from April 20 to May 10.

The information was disclosed at a press conference held at the EPI auditorium of the district health department this afternoon.

Speaking at the event, Civil Surgeon Dr Abdur Razzak said the campaign will cover the entire district, targeting all children aged between six months and under five years, who will receive the measles vaccine free of cost.

"Among the total targeted children across the district's six upazilas, 107,837 are boys and 102,432 are girls. Children who have already received vaccines at 9 months and 15 months under the routine immunization programme will also be eligible to receive the vaccine during this campaign," he said.

The civil surgeon added that the vaccination drive will be conducted at 1,616 centres across the six upazilas. A total of 4,848 personnel, including one vaccinator and two volunteers at each centre, will be engaged in implementing the campaign.

He said extensive publicity measures have been undertaken by the district health department to ensure the success of the programme.

WHO SIMO Mizanur Rahman, Medical Officer of the Civil Surgeon's Office Dr Md Atiur Rahman Sheikh, President of Nilphamari Press Club Manjurul Alam Siam and its General Secretary Milladur Rahman Mamun were also present at the press conference.
