
KUSHTIA, May 19, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered Indian drugs and other illegal goods worth more than Taka 21 lakh during separate special operations in Kushtia border area, officials said today.
According to a press release issued by the Kushtia BGB Battalion, members of BGB-47 carried out multiple raids based on specific intelligence information in different border areas under the district.
Kushtia Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Rony confirmed the recoveries in a statement released this afternoon.
Bsaed on information, a patrol team from Chilmari Border Outpost (BOP) conducted an operation in Shantipara border area around 11:40 pm on May 18. During the drive, the team recovered 10 bottles of Indian liquor, 2,810 dexamethasone tablets and 2,160 cyproheptadine tablets abandoned by unidentified smugglers.
In another operation around 4:30 am on May 19, members of Pragpur BOP raided the Pragpur Cemetery Ghat area near border pillar 148/2-S. The team seized 660 dexamethasone tablets, 290 cyproheptadine tablets and 105 packets of leaf bidis.
Later, at around 5:00 am the same day, a patrol team from Dharmadah BOP carried out a raid in the DGT field area and recovered 10 bottles of Indian liquor, 650 dexamethasone tablets and 360 cyproheptadine tablets, also found abandoned.
According to the BGB, the total estimated market value of the seized narcotics and contraband goods stands at Taka 21,14,775, the release added.
