NARSINGDI, June 5, 2026 (BSS) - Member of Parliament for Narsingdi-1 (Sadar) and President of the Narsingdi District BNP Khairul Kabir Khokon has successfully mediated and resolved a long-standing conflict in the char (river island) area of Chardighaldi in Narsingdi.

During the event, financial assistance was also distributed among families affected by the recent natural disasters.

He distributed government assistance cheques worth Tk 25,000 each to 17 families affected by natural calamities in Tidirchar village under Chardighaldi Union of Narsingdi Sadar Upazila this afternoon.

Speaking on the occasion, Khokon said, “The conflicts and clashes in the char areas of Narsingdi are not political in nature. Rather, they usually arise from social and family disputes related to local dominance and influence.”

The situation in the char areas has significantly improved compared to the past, he said, adding, “People are gradually moving away from the tradition of violent conflicts. In this age of modern technology, we, along with the administration, can easily obtain information about such incidents and take necessary actions promptly.”

He further said that strict measures would be taken against criminals regardless of their political affiliation. “The public must receive justice, and anyone found possessing illegal weapons will face stern action without consideration of party or group identity,” he added.

“Over the past 17 years, leaders and activists of the Awami League created conflicts and violence that endangered the lives of ordinary people and made rural areas unsuitable for living. We have freed the people from that situation and restored a normal environment. If anyone attempts to disrupt peace again, necessary action will be taken to ensure public safety,” said the lawmaker.

District BNP Vice-President Faruk Uddin Bhuiyan and Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary Md. Iqbal Hossain, leaders and activists from its affiliated organisations, among others, were present.
