Man killed after being hit by bus in Tangail

TANGAIL, June 5, 2026 (BSS) - A 72-years-old man was killed after being hit by a passenger bus in the Madhupur upazila of the district today.

The deceased has been identified as person named Atul Chandra Biswas, a former assistant head teacher of Jalachatra Corporation Christian High School in Arankhola Union of the upazila. 

The incident occurred this morning on the Tangail-Mymensingh regional highway in the Kakraid area of Madhupur upazila.

According to police and local sources, Atul Chandra Biswas was returning home on foot from the Kakraid area of Madhupur upazila after his morning walk, as usual on Friday morning. At that time, an unidentified passenger bus hit him on the Tangail-Mymensingh regional highway, leaving Atul Chandra Biswas critically injured. Later, locals rescued him and took him to Madhupur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Confirming the matter, Madhupur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) A K M Fazlul Haque said that after legal procedures, the deceased's body was handed over to his family members.
