NILPHAMARI, Aug 9, 2026 (BSS) - A farmer was killed after being run over by a bus in Saidpur upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Latif, 60, son of late Mamud Kancher of Subarnakhuli village in Sadar upazila.

Witnesses said Latif was crossing the Saidpur-Rangpur highway near Basunia intersection while carrying a bundle of grass on his head when a bus hit him. Latif died on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Taraganj Highway Police Station Md Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the incident and said police is trying to identify the bus and arrest its driver.
