CHATTOGRAM, Aug 11, 2026 (BSS)- National Consumer Rights Protection 
Department has imposed fines totaling Taka 1.95 lakh for various violations 
following a raid on three restaurants at Kaptai Rastar Matha in the city. 

The drive took place on Tuesday afternoon and was led by Faiz Ullah, Deputy 
Director of the Chattogram Divisional Office of the National Consumer Rights 
Protection Department.
 
Golden Bridge Restaurant received a fine of Taka one lakh during the raid. 
This establishment was fined for cooking, preparing, and storing food in an 
unhygienic and unsanitary environment, as well as for keeping expired curd 
and stale grilled and cooked meat in the refrigerator for sale. 

Cafe Al Makka Hotel and Restaurant was fined Taka 80 thousand for similar 
reasons, including the preparation and storage of food in unsanitary 
conditions. The drive also uncovered the presence of stale vegetables and 
various types of meat stored in unhygienic refrigerators alongside raw fish 
and meat. 

Additionally, a restaurant named Hazir Chuijhal was fined Taka 15,000. This 
establishment not only exhibited unsanitary conditions but was also found to 
be using salt designated for industrial purposes in food production.

Faiz Ullah, deputy director of the Chattogram Divisional Office of the 
National Consumer Rights Protection Department, stated that the three 
establishments were fined a total of Taka 195,000 due to irregularities such 
as unsanitary conditions in food preparation and storage, the storage of 
stale and expired food, and the use of unauthorized salt in food production. 

Ongoing supervision and raids will continue to protect consumer interests.
