KHULNA, Aug 22, 2026 (BSS) – Khulna District Unit BNP has adopted a joint programme with Khulna city BNP to celebrate the party’s 48th founding anniversary on September 1.

To mark the day,  a discussion and doa mahfil will be held at 11:00am on September 1, followed by a colourful rally at 3:00pm. From September 2, a series of programmes will be held at upazila and municipal levels, including discussion meetings, doa mahfils, voluntary blood donation, tree plantation and fish release, among other public welfare activities.

The decisions were taken at a preparatory meeting held at KD Ghosh Road, with BNP Khulna district convener Moniruzzaman Montu in the chair.

“BNP will celebrate this year’s founding anniversary on a grand scale involving people from all walks of life,” Moniruzzaman Montu said while addressing the preparatory meeting.

He stressed the need to ensure grassroots people’s access to various facilities, including Family Cards, Farmers’ Cards, agricultural loan waivers, canal excavation and Health Cards, through district and union councils.

He also called upon party leaders entrusted with important responsibilities at government level to play their due roles so that the BNP does not become detached from the mass people.

Montu said the anniversary would be a historic milestone in strengthening the party’s commitment to the ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, and to restoring democracy, sovereignty and people’s rights in Bangladesh.

He urged leaders and activists from every thana, union and ward of Khulna district to participate in the anniversary programmes in an organized manner, without causing any inconvenience to the general public.

District BNP acting member secretary and District Council Administrator SM Monirul Hasan Bappi, who moderated the meeting, said the BNP would nominate single candidates in local government elections.

He urged party leaders and activists to work unitedly to ensure victory for the party-nominated candidates and to start reaching out to voters from the very beginning.

A large number of BNP leaders, activists and supporters from nine upazilas and two municipalities are expected to join the colourful rally marking the party’s anniversary.
