KHULNA, Aug 25, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna city BNP today announced a comprehensive programme to prevent dengue and support patients amid a worsening outbreak in the city.
The programme includes awareness campaigns at schools and colleges with support from the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and the Khulna unit of the Doctors' Association of Bangladesh (DAB), blood collection, distribution of awareness leaflets and public announcements.
The party will also provide medical advice, doctors' support, medicines and blood-group matching services to dengue patients. Central service centres will be established in affected police station areas, along with smaller ward-level centres to assist low-income patients.
The programme was announced at a press briefing at Khulna Press Club by Advocate S M Shafiqul Alam Mona, president of Khulna City BNP and chairman of the Khulna Development Authority (KDA). Leaders of the Khulna DAB were also present.
Mona said a medical council led by Dr Rafiqul Islam Bablu and a dengue prevention coordination council led by Md Masud Parvez Babu had been formed to oversee the programme.
Jatiya Sangsad Whip Rakibul Islam Bokul will serve as chief adviser, while Mona will be the convener and Shafiqul Alam Tuhin the member secretary of the overall dengue response programme.
