THAKURGAON, Aug 26, 2026, (BSS)- Two people were killed and four others
injured in a three-way collision, involving a pickup, motorcycle and battery-
run auto-rickshaw, on the Panchagarh-Thakurgaon highway in Bhulli upazila of
the district today.
The deceased were identified as Anwara Begum, 45, wife of Shahjahan Ali in
Baro Balia area of the upazila and Jiban Adhikari, 40, an auto driver and
also the son of Chhatris Adhikari of Shukhan Pukur area under Sadar upazila
of the district.
The accident occurred when a freight pickup truck, heading towards Panchagarh
from Dhaka, collided head-on with a motorcycle and a battery-run auto-
rickshaw, coming from the opposite direction, in the Kochubari Post Office
area under the upazila around 9 am, leaving several people critically injured
on the spot, police said.
Being informed, a unit of Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot,
rescued the injured with the help of locals and took them to the 250-bed
Thakurgaon General Hospital, according to the sources.
Anwara and Jiban succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment
there.
Later, the injured four were taken to Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital. Of
the wounded, two were referred to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital as
their condition deteriorated, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhulli Police Station
Noor Alam Siddiqui confirmed.
"Two people were killed in a three-way collision involving a pickup,
motorcycle and battery-run auto-rickshaw in the Kochubari area. The driver of
the pickup has been arrested along with the vehicle. Necessary legal action
will be taken after investigating the cause of the accident," he said.
