KHULNA, August 26, 2026 (BSS) - Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH), marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), was observed in Khulna today with due religious fervour and solemnity.

On the occasion, a discussion on the life and teachings of the Prophet (PBUH), prize distribution among winners of Hamd and Naat competitions and a doa mahfil were held at the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Nagar Bhaban premises in the afternoon.

KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju attended the programme as the chief guest.

Addressing the event, he stressed the need to uphold, follow and emulate the ideals of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). 

 “Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) never told a lie and always stood for justice,” he said, adding that following his ideals would bring welfare to people across the world.

KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed presided over the discussion. 

Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan, Secretary Md Reza Rashid, authorised ward officials and other KCC officials and employees attended the programme.

Deputy Director of the Islamic Foundation Md Abdullah, KCC Teachers' Association President Nasir Uddin Kashemi, Imam Parishad General Secretary Maulana Md Golam Kibria and Maulana Md Mushfikur Rahman spoke on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Senior License Officer of KCC Md Moniruzzaman Rahim moderated the programme.

Later, the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners of the Hamd and Naat competition.

Meanwhile, the Khulna district administration and Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Khulna, jointly organised essay, Hamd and Naat competitions, a discussion, prize-giving ceremony and doa mahfil with participation of students.

Doa mahfils were also organised at mosques across the district by the district and upazila administrations in cooperation with mosque committees.

Educational institutions, cultural organisations, the Islamic Foundation and other religious institutions organised discussions, Quran recitations, doa mahfils, Hamd and Naat recitals, poetry recitations, cultural competitions and quizzes on the life, works and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The programmes also highlighted peace, progress, harmony, tolerance, universal brotherhood, human rights and dignity of women in Islam.

Special programmes, including Hamd and Naat, poetry, discussions and essay competitions based on the life and works of the Prophet (PBUH), were arranged for children.

Besides, improved-quality food was served at government and private hospitals, government child families, child homes, child development centres, old-age homes, juvenile development centres, orphanages and drug rehabilitation centres across the district.

Khulna University (KU), Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Khulna Agriculture University (KAU), others educational institutions, Khulna Press Club and different organizations observed the Eid-e-Miladunnabi with due religious fervour and solemnity.
