Fish fries released in Rangpur marking BNP founding anniversary

RANGPUR, Sept 6, 2026 (BSS) - A fish fries release programme has been held at Hussein Nagar Ghat on the Ghagot riverbank here to mark the 48th founding anniversary of BNP.

Rangpur Metropolitan Jatiyatabadi Matsyajeebi Dal organised the programme on Saturday.

Metropolitan BNP Senior Joint Convener Shahidul Islam Mizu attended the programme as the chief guest. 

Metropolitan Jatiyatabadi Matsyajeebi Dal Member-secretary Md Ariful Islam Arif presided over the programme.

Former acting member-secretaries of Rangpur Metropolitan BNP Md Abdus Salam and Md Selim Chowdhury, and incumbent joint convener of Rangpur District Jatiyatabadi Swechchasebak Dal Muntaseer Mamun Munna, addressed the programme as special guests.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders called for proper use of existing water bodies to increase fish production and meet the nutritional needs of people. 

Chief guest Shahidul Islam Mizu stressed protecting natural fish breeding grounds, conserving endangered and native fish species and preventing destructive fishing practices to achieve self-sufficiency in fish production. 

He said, "The government has given due importance to meeting the nutritional needs of the people and building a healthy nation by increasing the production of fish, meat, milk and eggs across the country."
