Leo XIV visits Augustinian sanctuary in first papal outing: source

  VATICAN CITY, May 10, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Leo XIV visited an Augustinian sanctuary outside Rome Saturday, in his first outing since being elected pope, a Vatican source told AFP.

    The US pontiff, born Robert Francis Prevost, visited the Mother of Good Counsel Sanctuary in Genazzano, about 50 kilometres (31 miles) southeast of Rome. Italian television channel TV2000 broadcast footage of the pope exiting a black SUV and entering the basilica.
