CHANDPUR, July 23, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizen Party (NCP) Southern Region Chief Coordinator Hasnat Abdullah today accused the Awami League (AL) of attempting to do politics over dead bodies, reiterating the NCP's firm stance against Awami fascism.
"The Awami League's chapter is closed. If it dares to return, our grief will turn into a force of resistance against their ambitions," Hasnat said while addressing a public rally at the Chandpur City Bus Stand as part of the nationwide 'July March to Rebuild the Nation' programme.
Several other top NCP leaders also spoke at the rally, including Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, Chief Organizer (Northern Region) Sarjis Alam, Senior Joint Convener Samantha Sharmin, Joint Chief Coordinators Md Mahabub Alam, Joint Member Secretary Md Miraj Mia and Chandpur District Chief Coordinator Md Mahbub Alam.
Calling for national unity, Hasnat urged the people to come together to build a just and inclusive Bangladesh, free from enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and disasters like school building collapses.
Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, a native of Chandpur, said, "No extortionists, terrorists, or sand-grabbers will be tolerated here. I will not let a fascist dictator like Sheikh Hasina rise again."
Northern region leader Sarjis Alam emphasized that while political disagreements may exist, the Awami League and its allies must not be allowed to re-enter the political scene and sow chaos.
Referring to the recent tragic plane crash involving students of Milestone School and College, Senior Joint Convener Samantha Sarmin remarked, "We are all in mourning. The July Road March has now also taken the shape of a grief-stricken procession."
Following the rally, special prayers were held for the victims of the plane crash, seeking eternal peace for the departed souls and swift recovery for the injured.
The session was led by Mufti Mahmudul Hasan, a member of the NCP Chandpur District Committee.
Earlier in the day, NCP's central leadership met with the families of those martyred in the July Movement at the Chandpur Circuit House.
