CHATTOGRAM, Dec 6, 2025 (BSS) - The Customs authorities today seized 800
cartons of Mond-brand cigarettes worth about Taka 9 million from six
unclaimed pieces of luggage at Shah Amanat International Airport.

The pieces of luggage were recovered around 11 am from beside the Lost and
Found corner in the airport's arrival hall.

According to customs sources, the luggage had no passenger names, tags, or
ownership documents. After remaining unclaimed for a long time, the bags were
declared abandoned under customs law. Upon inspection, authorities found 800
cartons of cigarettes, which were subsequently seized.

Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, Public Relations Officer of Shah Amanat
International Airport, said the luggage had remained unclaimed for an
extended period. Since no one claimed responsibility, the bags were declared
abandoned and subsequently seized.

He added that surveillance at the airport has been further tightened to
prevent smuggling, and enforcement operations will continue.
