DHAKA, Dec 6, 2025 (BSS) - Education Adviser Professor Dr CR Abrar today said the sacrifice of the 11 scouts who embraced martyrdom during the July Movement continues to inspire the nation in its efforts to build a new Bangladesh.

He made the remarks while addressing a national award ceremony organized by Bangladesh Scouts at its headquarters in the capital.

Paying tribute to the July Movement's martyred and injured scouts, the adviser said their sacrifice strengthened the nation's resolve for a new Bangladesh and will remain an everlasting inspiration.

The event was attended by Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration Md Ehsanul Hoque as special guest, while Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Home Affairs and President of Bangladesh Scouts Nasimul Ghani presided over the ceremony.

Shapla Cub Awards, President Scout Awards and President's Rover Scout Awards were presented to scouts from across the country.

Dr Abrar said scouting is not simply about earning badges but is also a comprehensive training in character-building, human values, leadership, responsibility, and community service.

He noted that scouts consistently stand on the frontlines during cyclones, floods, fires and other disasters, and called for expanding scouting activities to help create self-reliant and service-oriented citizens.

Highlighting Bangladesh's achievements on the global stage, he said the country now ranks fourth among 176 scout nations and has demonstrated strong leadership in various committees of the Asia-Pacific region.

He also lauded the significant rise in women's participation in scouting.

Addressing the award recipients, Dr Abrar said: "You are the nation's future leaders. With honesty, courage, resilience and humanity, you must grow into exemplary citizens - this is the expectation of the country."
