PARIS, Oct 11, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Two foreigners -- a Dominican and a Brazilian -- have been fatally shot in the capital of French Guiana, police said Friday, adding they had opened an investigation.

The two men were undocumented migrants in the South American territory, which belongs to France.

They both died late Thursday in Cayenne, according to police, who said they were both shot in the chest and succumbed to their wounds before paramedics arrived.

Official statistics in French Guiana indicate that killings in the territory have markedly dropped in the second half of this year.
