Three workers burned in Bangshal shoe factory fire

DHAKA, Nov 17, 2025 (BSS) - Three workers were critically burned in a shoe factory fire at Mazargali, Sikkatuli, under the Bangshal area of the capital early today.

The fire broke out around 1:45am on the ground floor of a six-storey building owned by Sajeeb Mia, police and local sources said.

The injured have been identified as Roman, 20 (45% burns), Ainuddin, 45 (20% burns), and Amiruddin, 40 (10% burns) were rescued and taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), hospital sources said.

All three hailed from Batia Para village in Katiadi, Kishoreganj.

Police Inspector Mohammad Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH Police Camp, confirmed the incident, stating that two of the victims are in critical condition. 

All three are currently under close observation, and Bangshal Police Station has been notified for further investigation.

Rafiqul Islam, owner of the shoe factory, said the fire erupted when workers were heating glue solution on an electric stove while preparing sandals. 

"Suddenly, the solution caught fire, burning three workers. We immediately rescued them and brought them to the burn unit, where doctors admitted them," he said.
