Dozens injured in Czech train crash

PRAGUE, Nov 20, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Forty-two people were injured when an express train crashed with a passenger train in southern Czech Republic on Thursday, rescuers said.

The accident occurred near the city of Ceske Budejovice about 150 kilometres (100 miles) south of Prague.

"There are 40 people with light injuries and two with serious injuries," ambulance service spokeswoman Petra Kafkova told AFP.

She added the accident was reported at 0519 GMT.

Martin Kavka, a spokesman for the rail operator Sprava zeleznic, told AFP all passengers were already evacuated from the trains.

He declined to say how the crash happened, adding that the investigation was still ongoing.
