Ebtedayee Madrashas to be brought under MPO gradually: Minister tells JS

SANGSAD BHABAN, June 14, 2026 (BSS) – Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Huq Milon today said the government has a plan to include country’s Ebtedayee Madrashas under the coverage of monthly pay order (MPO) gradually if all the criteria’s are properly met.

The minister said this while responding to a starred question made by opposition Bangladesh Jamaat-e Islami lawmaker M Qamrul Hasan of Mymensingh-6 at the Jatiya Sangsad here with Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal in the chair.

Presently, the country has a total of 8,486 individual Ebtedayee Madrasha. To bring these Ebtedayee Madrashas under the coverage of the MPO, the “Independent Ebtedayee Madrasah Establishment, Teaching, Recognition, Management, Staffing Structure and MPO Policy, 2025' has been formulated", he said.

Under the new policy, the education minister said the detailed rules have been included in the third chapter to include the individual Ebtedayee Madrasha under the coverage of the MPO. Already 1,327 Ebtedayee Madrashas have applied for the MPO.
 
The plan to bring independent Ebtedayee madrasas under the MPO system will be implemented gradually, subject to the proper fulfillment of the policy conditions and criteria, he added.
