JHENAIDAH, June 15, 2026 (BSS) - Sewing machines were distributed among helpless, orphaned, and widowed women from different villages of Saganna
Union in Sadar upazila to help them become self-reliant and improve their families' livelihoods.

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tareq Hasan handed over the sewing machines among 18 women at a function held on Monday afternoon at the Saganna
Union Parishad (UP) premises of the upazila as the chief guest.

Additional Agricultural Extension Officer of Sadar upazila Mir Rakibul Islam was present as a special guest.

Speaking at the event, the UNO said the initiative aims to empower disadvantaged women by providing them with opportunities for income
generation.

He expressed hope that the beneficiaries would be able to use the sewing machines effectively to achieve financial independence and support their
families.

The administration will continue such welfare-oriented activities in the future to promote self-employment and improve the socio-economic condition of
vulnerable groups, he added.
