Minor boy drowns in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR, June 15, 2026 (BSS) - A minor boy drowned in a pond at Sagarpur village under Ghoraghat upazila of the district on Monday morning.

The deceased was Nabiur Hossain, 2, son of van driver Mohammad Ali of the same village.

According to police, the accident occurred around 9.00 am in the Dakshinpara area. Deceased father Mohammad Ali said that after returning home from a nearby pond where he had gone to feed and check on his ducks, he noticed that his son Nabiur was missing.

Assuming the child was playing nearby, family members began searching the surrounding area. During the search, Nabiur's elder brother, Naim Islam, spotted him floating in the pond adjacent to their house. 

The child was immediately rescued and taken to Ghodaghat Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Ghoraghat Police Station Md. Shahidul Islam confirmed the matter.
