Unauthorized bakery fined in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 15, 2026 (BSS) - A bakery in Rajshahi city has been fined Tk 12,000 for producing, selling and distributing biscuits, bread and cakes without obtaining the mandatory quality certification from the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).

A mobile court conducted by the BSTI Divisional Office, Rajshahi, imposed the fine on Pure Live Food Bakery and Pastry in the city's Saheb Bazar area today.

During the drive, the mobile court found that the establishment had been manufacturing and marketing biscuits, bread and cakes without securing the BSTI quality mark certificate.

The court also found several irregularities in product packaging, including the absence of manufacturing and expiry dates, weight, price, and the name and address of the manufacturer, along with other mandatory information.

The operation was led by Md Borhan Uddin Antor, Assistant Commissioner (Nezarat and Trade and Commerce Branch) of the Rajshahi District Administration and Executive Magistrate.

Engineer Junayed Ahmed, an official of the Certification Marks Wing of the BSTI Divisional Office, Rajshahi, acted as prosecutor during the drive.

Members of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police assisted the mobile court.
