Main accused in Gaibandha beating-to-death case held in Rangpur

RANGPUR, June 15, 2026 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the main accused of Gaibandha's Momtaz Ali death case due to prior enmity from Patgram village under Pirganj police station of Rangpur today (Monday).

The arrestee is Prabash Kisco, 35, of Bhutgari village under Gobindaganj police station of Gaibandha, said a press release issued by RAB-13's Senior Assistant Director (Media) and Additional Superintendent of Police Biplab Kumar Goswami here today. 

Citing the statement of the case filed by the victim's younger brother, Md Abu Sayeed, 42, the release said there was prior enmity between the arrested accused, Prabhas Kisco, and the victim, Momtaz Ali of the same village. 

After Friday's Juma prayers, the victim, Momtaz Ali, was taking tea at a roadside tea stall on June 5, 2026.

At that time, the accused hit the victim on the head with a bamboo stick from behind due to enmity, causing serious injuries. 

When the victim was rushed to the nearby Ghoraghat Upazila Health Complex for treatment, the on-duty doctor sent him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment. 
The victim died while undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital on June 7, 2026. 

In this incident, the victim's younger brother filed a murder case with Gobindaganj police station on June 12, 2026.

On a tip-off, a smart team of the RAB-13's Gaibandha Camp, in a raid, arrested the main accused in the case, Prabash Kisco, from Patgram under Pirganj police station in Rangpur at 02.45 am on Monday.

The arrested accused has been handed over to Gobindaganj police station.
