DCCI mourns death of former PM Begum Khaleda Zia

DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) - President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) Taskeen Ahmed, on behalf of the members of the Board of Directors, today expressed grief and deepest condolences at the death of Begum Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and BNP Chairperson.

Khaleda breathed her last today at the Evercare Hospital, Dhaka while undergoing treatment at the age of 80.

In a message of condolence, the DCCI said Begum Khaleda Zia was the first female prime minister of Bangladesh. She was also the Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), one of the largest political parties in Bangladesh till her death. 

"She played a pioneering role in the struggle to establish democratic governance in Bangladesh and worked relentlessly throughout her life to uphold the socio-economic and democratic rights of the people of the country, which will be remembered with utmost respect forever," said the message.

The DCCI also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deepest sympathy to the family members of the bereaved.
