DU announces 3-day mourning on Khaleda Zia's demise

DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka University (DU) authorities today announced three-day mourning over the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

All classes and examinations at the university will remain suspended from Tuesday to Thursday, a DU press release said.

As part of the mourning, the DU's flag has been kept at half-mast. The university's next programmes will be taken in line with the state programme. 

Besides, academic seminars and other events will be organised at the university on the life and works of Begum Khaleda Zia.

From today, Quran recitations and doa mahfils will be arranged at all halls/hostels and mosques in the residential area of ??Dhaka University, including the central mosque Masjidul Jamia, seeking forgiveness for Begum Khaleda Zia's soul. 

Special prayers will be offered at other religious places of worships.
In addition, the DU administration will arrange adequate transport for teachers, students, officials and employees of the university to participate in janaza of Khaleda Zia to be held at Manik Mia Avenue after Zohr prayers tomorrow.
