DHAKA, Feb 17, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today convicted and sentenced house help Surovi Akter to death in a case filed over the brutal murder of housewife Afroza Begum and domestic worker Diti in the capital's Dhanmondi area in 2019.

Tawhida Akter, Judge of the 7th Additional Sessions Court in Dhaka, delivered the verdict this afternoon. The court also acquitted another house help, Bacchu Miah, in the case.
