
RAJSHAHI, Feb 17, 2026 (BSS)- People in Rajshahi are jubilant as Mizanur Rahman Minu, elected from the Rajshahi-2 (Sadar) constituency, has been appointed as a full minister.
People from all walks of life in Rajshahi, regardless of political affiliation, have expressed their joy and happiness.
After he took the oath as a minister, sweets were distributed in neighborhoods across the city.
Rajshahi-2 constituency comprises the Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) area.
Previously, in 1979, Emran Ali Sarkar from this constituency became a full minister in the cabinet of Ziaur Rahman.
He served as the Minister of Relief and Rehabilitation. After many years, Mizanur Rahman Minu has now become a full minister from this seat.
This veteran BNP leader had been serving as an adviser to the BNP Chairperson.
At the age of just 32, he became the mayor of RCC. He served as mayor for 17 consecutive years. While serving as mayor, he was also elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Rajshahi Sadar seat in 2001.
After becoming a minister, Mizanur Rahman Minu said, "Along with fulfilling my responsibilities in the ministry, I will continue to work tirelessly for Rajshahi. I will now be able to work even more effectively for the development of Rajshahi."
Rajshahi District Krishak Dal Convener Shafiqul Alam confirmed the matter and said, "Our beloved leader Mizanur Rahman Minu has become the Land Minister. We are all very happy. He is someone whom anyone can approach easily. He listens attentively to everyone and tries his best to solve their problems."
Shariful Islam Jony, acting convener of the Rajshahi city Jubo Dal, said, "Minu Bhai is the architect of modern Rajshahi. He has built this city as if it were his own child. He has dedicated his entire life to this party. He has been properly recognized. On behalf of the people of Rajshahi, we express our gratitude to Tarique Rahman."
Jamat Khan, general secretary of the Rajshahi Rokkha Sangram Parishad, said, "I am extremely happy that after a long time, Rajshahi has a full-fledged minister. I believe he will now be able to move our agriculture-based region forward."
