Kidnapper held, victim schoolgirl rescued in Lalmonirhat

RANGPUR Feb 17, 2026 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested the main abductor and rescued the victim schoolgirl from the Teesta Bus Stand area under Sadar police station of Lalmonirhat district on Monday night.
 
The arrested abductor is Md Bakul Mia, 35, son of Md Apiar Rahman of village Khuniagach (Alutari) under Sadar police station of Lalmonirhat district, a press release said here this afternoon. 
 
Citing the statement of the case filed in this connection, the release said that the victim of the same area is a student of class 10. 
 
After being married, the arrested accused had been alluring the victim to marry him for   long. 
 
Later, when the victim got upset and informed her parents, her father forbade the arrested accused from doing such misdeed but the accused got angry and kept threatening the victim in various ways. 
 
At 11.00 am on January 30, 2026, the arrested accused with his accomplices forcibly kidnapped the victim from the Sarpukur area in the nearby Aditmari police station while she was returning home from a private tutor’s house. 
 
Later, the victim's father filed an abduction case with Aditmari police station of Lalmonirhat on February 3, 2026. 
 
Since the incident, the accused have been in hiding to avoid arrest. 
 
On a tip off, a team of RAB-13 from Rangpur in a raid arrested the main accused Md Bakul Mia and rescued the victim from the Teesta Bus Stand under Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station of Lalmonirhat district at 7:30 pm on Monday.
 
The victim and the accused have been handed over to Aditmari police station of Lalmonirhat for further legal action.
