COVID-19 vaccination campaign to be launched soon: DGHS

DHAKA, Jan 18, 2024 (BSS) - The National Covid-19 Vaccine Management Taskforce of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today suggested launching vaccination programme as infection rate of COVID-19 has increased across the country. 

In a statement, the National Covid-19 Vaccine Management Taskforce made the suggestion issuing a fresh directive for launching vaccination campaign to immunize first, second and booster dose. 

According to the statement, initially booster dose (third and fourth dose of Pfizer vaccine) will be administered at eight hospitals in Dhaka city.

The eight hospitals are Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, Mugda Medical College Hospital, Sheikh Russel National Gastroliver Institute and Hospital and Government Employee's Hospital, Fulbaria. 

Later, COVID-19 vaccination campaign will be launched at specialized hospitals and other public hospitals across the country in phases to prevent spread of the deadly virus. 

The statement read healthcare professionals, elderly people aged 60 and above, the people with chronic disease and pregnant women will be given priority to receiving COVID vaccines.
